Putting ingredients into a dish comes naturally, remembering to write down quantities, processes and taking pictures is more of a challenge; abilities are suited in the actual task of cooking. Learning to meld spices and herbs, creating flavor profiles and trying new things is a fantastic journey that creates the passion behind Spontaneous Cooking. Formally trained? No, everything comes from trial and error, watching others, striving to eat healthy, growing vegetables and herbs and enjoying the experience to experiment with different foods and cuisines; finding healthy alternatives while incorporating herbs and spices.
Some of the recipes are a tribute to mom and grandma, aunt Linda also has some recipes to share. Some are adaptations from suggestions and some come from global travels. Have a look the vegetarian section for scrumptious meatless dishes, if it weren't for pork, I'd assuredly be one!
Choosing non-GMO and organic foods is beyond important, our bodies have no idea what to do with the laboratory formulas that are supposed to constitute "food" and many added ingredients produce an increased allergy load in the body and can cause food borne illnesses. Utilizing local farms, creameries and farmers markets for proteins, vegetables and dairy products is time well spent.
Please take a look around and feel free to provide helpful hints and feedback. Not just to the recipes but to the website content as well. If there is a topic that you would like to see included, let me know! This website would not have been possible without Jim, a computer genius who lovingly supports my shenanigans in the kitchen. Thank you!

NON-GMO and Organic. Growing non-GMO vegetables and herbs that go into a meal is not only therapeutic but satisfying. The ability to venture into the backyard to "shop" for ingredients tips the scales. Flavors are heightened, nutritive values increased and dishes just taste better. Herbs are also grown inside in a hydro-garden that produces all year round. Growing plants, vegetables, fruits and herbs is not just for adults but is a great activity for the whole family. Look for labels on foods with 5 ingredients or less and ones that you can pronounce.
